Thessaloniki Fair Renovation Secures 204.6 Million Euros from National Development Program

The Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) is set to receive a significant boost with 204.6 million euros allocated from the National Development Program for a comprehensive urban renewal project. This funding, confirmed by the Ministers of National Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, and Alternate Minister, Nikos Papathanassis, paves the way for one of the most important urban interventions in Thessaloniki in decades.

The ambitious plan aims to modernize the exhibition and conference facilities while simultaneously creating valuable public space for citizens. A central feature of the redevelopment is the creation of a metropolitan park spanning approximately 120 dunams (12 hectares). This open, accessible area will boast extensive greenery, recreational zones, and spaces for cultural events, intended to become a new landmark for the city.

Throughout the construction process, the TIF will continue its operations without interruption. The project is designed in three distinct phases to ensure that exhibition activities are not disrupted. Key elements of the renovation include the construction of two new bioclimatic exhibition buildings totaling around 43,000 square meters, a complete overhaul of the "Ioannis Vellidis" Conference Center, the development of approximately 1,000 underground parking spaces, and the transformation of roughly 120 dunams into public spaces and park infrastructure.

This substantial investment underscores the government's strategic priority to implement large-scale public projects that offer high added value to the economy, local communities, and the urban environment. By leveraging national and European resources, the government aims to drive development, create new opportunities, and visibly transform Greek cities and the nation as a whole.
