Thousands of Israelis March Toward Gaza Border to Demand Resettlement

Thousands of Israelis, including settlers and right-wing activists, marched towards the Gaza Strip border on Sunday. Their demand: the Israeli government must re-establish settlements in the war-torn Palestinian territory.

We are marching today to tell the Israeli government and show the world that this land belongs to us, that Gaza truly belongs to us, and that we want to return.

Gathering near the border, the demonstrators moved toward the fence separating Gaza from Israel. Israeli security forces were deployed to prevent them from reaching the restricted area. Images showed participants waving Israeli flags as soldiers and police blocked their path.

"We are marching today to tell the Israeli government and show the world that this land belongs to us, that Gaza truly belongs to us, and that we want to return," said Daniel Sellem, one of the participants. He emphasized that they lived in Gaza before being expelled in 2005, asserting that their goal is to increase pressure on the government to permit their return.

Another participant, Yechiel Greenblum, described the demonstration as the "beginning" of a campaign for Israeli communities to resettle in Gaza. He claimed that Jewish people have lived in the area for centuries and that the 2005 withdrawal was only temporary. This march follows similar demonstrations by other Israeli groups aiming to pressure Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government to reinstate settlements in the territory.
