Three arrested in Cavan after armed gardaí raid properties linked to organised crime

An operation involving approximately 40 gardaí, including armed officers, resulted in the arrest of three men in their 30s following raids on four properties in County Cavan, Ireland. The men have been charged and are scheduled to appear before Monaghan District Court.

The arrests are connected to ongoing Garda investigations into two serious assaults that occurred in Cullyleenan, Ballyconnell, earlier in August. The first assault, in the early hours of Sunday, August 2nd, left two men in their 30s with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. They were treated at Cavan General Hospital. Three days later, on the evening of August 5th, another man in his 30s was assaulted outside a commercial premises in the same area, also requiring hospitalization.

Authorities believe these incidents are linked to a localized dispute between organized family groups. The searches of the four addresses were part of an "ongoing investigation into organised criminal activity." The arrested men are being held in the northwestern Garda region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
