Three Chinese Officials Expelled from Communist Party for Corruption

China's top anti-graft body has announced the expulsion of three high-ranking officials from the Communist Party for severe disciplinary and legal violations. The individuals, identified as Gu Jun, former deputy party secretary and general manager of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC); Xiao Jie, former member of the party group and vice chairman of the Hainan Provincial People's Congress; and Han Song, former party committee member and deputy general manager of China Resources (Holdings) Company Limited, have all been stripped of their party membership.

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) detailed Gu Jun's transgressions, stating he lost his ideals and mission, resisted organizational review, accepted bribes, and engaged in power-for-sex transactions. He is also accused of using his public power for personal gain, accepting vast sums of money and property through his position, particularly in project contracting, equipment procurement, and payment approvals. The CCDI noted that his actions occurred after the 18th Party Congress, indicating a lack of remorse.

Similarly, Xiao Jie is accused of betraying his mission, resisting investigation, accepting gifts, and allowing banquets that could affect his impartiality. He is also implicated in using his authority to benefit relatives and in a case of exceeding agricultural machinery subsidy standards, for which he held significant leadership responsibility. His involvement in project contracting and power-for-money deals, resulting in the illegal acceptance of substantial wealth, has led to his expulsion and referral to judicial authorities.

Han Song faces similar accusations, including engaging in superstitious activities, accepting banquets and travel arrangements that compromised his duties, and using his position to benefit others in promotions and hiring. He is also accused of interfering in market economic activities and engaging in power-for-money transactions for personal gain. His case has also been transferred to the procuratorate for further legal proceedings.
