Three Convicted in Drug Smuggling Case

A Lithuanian court has convicted three individuals in a significant drug smuggling operation. The case centered on the illegal possession and trafficking of narcotics, including cocaine and ketamine.

E.K. and D.Š. were found guilty of illegally possessing and smuggling a large quantity of narcotic and psychotropic substances. E.K. received a combined sentence of 8 years imprisonment, while D.Š. was sentenced to 11 years. A third individual, I.K., was convicted for the illegal possession of narcotic substances without intent to distribute and was fined 5,500 euros.

According to the prosecution, I.K. and E.K. acquired approximately 0.5 grams of cocaine for personal consumption during a trip. They transported this quantity by car to Poland and brought it back to Lithuania the same evening, crossing the border at Lazdijai. During a subsequent police stop in the same district, the drugs were found and seized from E.K.

Further investigation revealed that E.K. also possessed 0.8 grams of ketamine at his residence for personal use. The prosecution also established that E.K. and D.Š. had conspired to smuggle drugs from Poland. E.K., acting on instructions and financial transfers from D.Š., illegally obtained nearly 4 kilograms of 4-CMC, packaged in four separate bags. He transported these substances into Lithuania, but his vehicle was stopped by police, and the drugs were confiscated.

The verdict from the Kaunas Regional Court is not yet final and can be appealed.
