Three dead, three injured in Ogun auto crash

A fatal road crash on the Sagamu-Benin Expressway claimed three lives and left three others injured on Wednesday. The incident occurred near Babcock Junction in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun state.

The collision involved a white Mercedes-Benz truck and a crane. Preliminary investigations suggest the crane was speeding and traveling against traffic when it struck the oncoming truck head-on.

A total of three persons, comprising two males and one female, lost their lives, while three male victims sustained varying degrees of injuries.

According to Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesman for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), the crash involved six individuals: three males and three females. Two men and one woman died, while three men sustained injuries. TRACE operatives, the Federal Road Safety Corps, and the police responded to the scene, with a rescue team providing support. The injured were taken to Babcock University Teaching Hospital, and the deceased were transported to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital morgue.

Traffic was temporarily diverted to ease movement while the crashed vehicles were removed. Akinbiyi extended condolences to the families of the deceased and cautioned motorists against driving against traffic and other violations, emphasizing the severe consequences of such actions.
