Three killed, nine injured in Pakistan's Hanna Urak clashes; security operation underway

A violent confrontation in Hanna Urak, on the outskirts of Quetta, Pakistan, resulted in three deaths and at least nine injuries when locals clashed with armed assailants. The provincial government responded by launching a security operation in the area, which led to the deaths of four suspected attackers and injuries to several police personnel.

Three people were killed and nine sustained injuries in the incident, while at least seven people were kidnapped by the attackers.

The clashes erupted Sunday night when armed individuals attacked the Babri area. Local residents organized a defense, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Home Minister Ziaullah Langove reported three fatalities and nine wounded among the civilians, adding that seven people were abducted by the attackers. Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar confirmed that law enforcement agencies, including the Frontier Corps, were deployed to the scene.

Four ATF personnel were injured during an operation against the armed men launched in the area.

In the subsequent operation, officials claimed four attackers were neutralized, while at least nine police officers sustained injuries. Shahid Rind, an aide to the Chief Minister, confirmed injuries to ATF personnel and stated that the operation aimed to eliminate "terrorist elements" and ensure citizen safety. He asserted that the attackers were linked to the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Following the incident, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti chaired a high-level meeting, authorizing an "immediate sanitisation operation" in Hanna Urak and surrounding regions. The meeting established joint checkpoints involving multiple law enforcement agencies to track suspected terrorists. Chief Minister Bugti ordered "indiscriminate action" against all involved in terrorism and formed a committee, including the Home and Health Ministers, to address the situation and appease protesters.
