Three Police Officers Die in Sabah Accident While Harvesting Coconuts

Three police officers tragically lost their lives due to an electric shock while harvesting coconuts in Kampung Weston, Beaufort, Sabah. The incident occurred around 5:56 p.m. on Thursday, claiming the lives of Lans Koperal Nur Hafiz Rahim, 29, Koperal Chiu Teck Siong, 40, and Lans Koperal Muhammad Raimi Ismarubee, 26.

Nur Hafiz had expressed feeling tired to his mother, Maimunah Mat Hassan, 57, during a video call on the morning of the incident. His sister, Nurlella, 34, recounted that her younger brother mentioned needing to work and promised to call back later, but his mother never received that subsequent call. Instead, she was later informed of his death.

Nur Hafiz, who had served as a police officer for five years in Sabah, was the youngest of five siblings. He had moved to Sabah with his wife, Fatimah Syaera Zahrul Saharudin, 28, and their two-year-old son, Hariz Idraqi, over a year ago. His wife had stopped working after giving birth and decided to relocate with him.

The family last saw Nur Hafiz in May when he visited Kelantan for a holiday. His remains arrived at his mother-in-law's home in Kampung Hutan Pasir, Ketereh, early Saturday morning. Over 100 close family members, along with police officers and personnel, attended the burial ceremony, which took place between 7 and 7:45 a.m.
