Baggage suspected of carrying explosives, drugs found to contain only personal items

The Kubang Pasu Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and Security (ICQS) complex in Bukit Kayu Hitam experienced a two-hour closure late Tuesday evening. The disruption occurred after a suspicious pink suitcase was abandoned in the inspection area. Initial customs scans suggested the bag contained explosives and drugs, prompting the deployment of the Kedah Contingent Police Headquarters Bomb Disposal Unit (UPB).

After finding no one claimed the bag, it was taken for scanning. After the scan, Customs found the image contained suspected drugs and explosives.

Authorities secured the area and conducted a risk assessment before proceeding with the baggage. The UPB successfully opened the suitcase around 11 p.m. to find it contained only personal items. These included clothing, shampoo, lotion, and a hairdryer, with no trace of explosives or illicit substances.

The incident had caused a stir on social media, with reports circulating about the discovery of dangerous materials. The police confirmed the bag's contents after a thorough examination, resolving the scare that had briefly halted operations at the busy border crossing.
