Thunderstorms, Hail and Strong Winds to Hit Several Regions of Kazakhstan

Thunderstorms, hail and powerful winds are expected across several parts of Kazakhstan on Monday, September 7, while large areas remain under high or extreme fire-danger warnings.

Aktobe Region faces intense heat of up to 35°C, with southerly and southeasterly winds reaching 15-20 meters per second in the west, north and east. Extreme fire danger remains in effect across the region and in Aktobe city. Similar wind conditions are expected in parts of Karaganda, Kostanay, Zhambyl and Zhetysu regions.

Atyrau Region could see light rain and thunderstorms overnight, followed during the day by hail and squalls in the west, north and south. Winds are expected to shift from southwesterly to northwesterly, with gusts of up to 20 meters per second. Rain, thunderstorms, hail and squalls are also forecast in Atyrau city, where extreme fire danger remains in effect.

The most unsettled conditions are expected in West Kazakhstan Region. Rain, at times heavy, and thunderstorms are forecast overnight in the west and north, continuing during the day. Heavy rain could come with hail and squalls, while winds may reach 15-20 meters per second. Uralsk is also expected to see rain, thunderstorms, hail and squalls. High or extreme fire danger warnings remain in force across many of the affected areas.
