Tiafoe breaks his curse against Fritz to capture the biggest title of his career

Frances Tiafoe became the first American to win the Halle Open, breaking a long-standing losing streak against compatriot Taylor Fritz in a significant career milestone. Tiafoe secured the ATP 500 title with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Fritz, marking the most important tournament win of his career.

Prior to this final, Tiafoe had lost seven of his previous eight matches against Fritz, who had been considered the more consistent grass-court player on the tour. This triumph not only avenges those losses but also represents Tiafoe's fourth career title, surpassing his previous wins at ATP 250 events in Delray Beach (2018), Houston, and Stuttgart (both 2023).

The 28-year-old player from Hyattsville achieved his third victory over a top-ten opponent this week.
