Tiger Woods to change not guilty plea in Florida DUI case, court records show

Tiger Woods plans to change his not guilty plea in a Florida DUI case stemming from a rollover crash, according to court documents filed Tuesday. He is expected in court Wednesday morning for a plea conference hearing, but the records do not disclose what the new plea will be.

The case began in March, when Woods’ Land Rover clipped a truck and rolled onto its side on Jupiter Island. An arrest report said Woods was driving at high speed on a beachside residential road with a 30 mph limit. The crash caused $5,000 in damage to the truck, and Woods crawled out of the vehicle without injuries.

Woods told a deputy he had been looking at his phone and changing the radio station when he struck the truck. Deputies said he appeared impaired during questioning and sobriety tests. A Breathalyzer registered zero alcohol, but authorities said Woods refused a urine test. He told police he had taken “a few” prescription medications, and officers found two hydrocodone pills in his pants pocket. The report described him as sweating heavily, with bloodshot eyes and extremely dilated pupils.

Court records also say Woods traveled outside the United States for inpatient treatment. A judge approved agreements allowing prosecutors to review medical records connected to the crash and arrest, as well as prescription medication records from a Palm Beach pharmacy. Woods’ lawyer and the State Attorney’s Office did not immediately provide further details.
