Tinubu Appoints Fayose, 25 Others into Top Federal Positions

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has initiated a significant reshuffling of leadership across federal agencies, announcing 26 new appointments to 10 government bodies. Among the notable appointments is Ayo Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, who is set to chair the board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

This wave of appointments also sees Major General Junaid Bindawa, a retired military officer, taking the helm as chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission. The appointments, detailed in a statement by presidential aide Bayo Onanuga, are effective immediately, signaling a swift implementation of the president's decisions.

The Rural Electrification Agency's board will be further strengthened by the inclusion of Ahmadu Abubakar and Ilyasu Makinta as members and non-executive directors. They will serve alongside the incumbent Director General, Abba Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors.

In addition to these roles, the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission welcomes eight other appointees. Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, formerly a member of the House of Representatives, has been named secretary. The commission also includes commissioners Ogbole Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun, and Yakubu Barde, representing Benue, Oyo, and Kaduna states, respectively.

Other key appointments include Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), and Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as chairman/CEO of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission. Engineer Julius Oloro, a former council chairman, becomes the new CEO of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), succeeding the late Dr A.R. Kamal. The Fiscal Responsibility Commission also has a new chairman, Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu, and a reconstituted board. Shuni Dahiru is appointed executive secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education.
