Tinubu Appoints Fayose REA Board Chairman Amid 25 Other Appointments

President Bola Tinubu has appointed former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose as the chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) Board. This appointment is part of a larger wave of 26 new appointments across 10 federal government agencies and commissions.

The appointments, announced by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga in Abuja, are effective immediately. Fayose will lead the REA board, which also includes Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Makinta as members and non-executive directors. The agency's current Director General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three executive directors complete the board.

In addition to the REA appointments, President Tinubu made eight other appointments to the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission. Major General Junaid Bindawa was appointed chairman of this commission, with former House of Representatives member Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas serving as secretary. Other commissioners appointed include Ogbole Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun, and Yakubu Umar Barde.

Further appointments include Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), and Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as chairman/CEO of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission. Engineer Julius Oloro is the new CEO of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM). The board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission was also constituted, with Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as chairman. Shuni Muhammad Dahiru takes over as the executive secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education.
