Tinubu approves recruitment of 3,252 PTA teachers into civil service

President Bola Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 3,252 verified Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) teachers into the Federal Civil Service. This initiative seeks to alleviate the persistent shortage of educators in Federal Unity Colleges and enhance the overall quality of education across the nation.

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, announced the approval, emphasizing that priority will be given to PTA teachers who have dedicated nearly 25 years to serving in Federal Unity Colleges and Federal Technical Colleges. This move offers them a pathway to join the mainstream public service, recognizing their long-standing contributions.

This is a president who cares deeply for Nigeria and for the future of our country. The president has approved the recruitment of teachers. Priority will be given to absorbing verified PTA teachers, many of whom have served in our Federal Unity Colleges and Federal Technical Colleges for almost 25 years. This approval provides them with the opportunity to become part of the mainstream public service.

Alausa described the approval as a significant intervention by the Tinubu administration, aimed at strengthening the teaching workforce. He highlighted that the recruitment follows a comprehensive verification exercise by an inter-ministerial committee, which screened eligible PTA teachers. The process has verified 3,252 teachers across various cadres, paving the way for their regularization upon meeting all statutory requirements.

"This approval provides them with the opportunity to become part of the mainstream public service," the minister stated, adding that the recruitment is a milestone under the Renewed Hope Agenda. He further explained that integrating these experienced teachers will preserve institutional knowledge, bolster classroom instruction, and improve learning outcomes. The Ministry of Education will collaborate with relevant agencies to finalize the remaining statutory processes.
