Gombe assembly commission promotes 28, retires six

The Gombe State House of Assembly Service Commission has approved the promotion of 28 staff members and ratified the retirement of six officers who have completed their service. These decisions were made during the commission's maiden full-sitting, chaired by Sadiq Ibrahim.

Ibrahim reaffirmed the commission's dedication to addressing staff welfare and career progression in line with its statutory duties. "We are committed to carrying out the task entrusted to us by His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, particularly in handling all issues pertaining to staff welfare in accordance with the Commission’s establishment law," he stated. The commission aims to ensure staff welfare remains a priority while also expecting employees to uphold their responsibilities.

The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), representing both the House of Assembly and Assembly Service Commission chapters, paid a courtesy visit to the commission. The delegation congratulated the new leadership and pledged their support. However, PASAN appealed for the commission to prioritize timely staff promotions, capacity building through training and workshops, and improved welfare, including the payment of wardrobe allowance.

Responding to PASAN's concerns, Ibrahim thanked the association for their visit and support, pledging to collaborate closely to enhance the effectiveness of the Assembly Service Commission. He assured that the issues raised would receive due consideration. He also cautioned staff against indiscipline, urging them to demonstrate commitment to their duties.
