Tinubu awards new Adamawa road contracts, approves N156bn, Works Controller

Dimas Tuwai, the Adamawa State Controller for the Federal Ministry of Works, has countered assertions that President Bola Tinubu's administration is neglecting Adamawa in federal road project allocations. Tuwai asserted in an interview that the federal government has initiated several new road contracts and revived previously abandoned projects throughout the state, with many now in advanced stages of completion.

Tuwai detailed that President Tinubu has approved three significant road projects spanning Adamawa's three senatorial districts. These include the N83 billion Jimeta–Mayo‑Belwa rehabilitation and Phase 2 rehabilitation of the Yola–Hong–Mubi road. Additionally, Phase 2 of the Fufore–Gurin road, covering 20 kilometers, has been awarded at N15.246 billion, following the completion of its initial 17-kilometer phase.

The controller also highlighted four newly awarded projects designed to stimulate the state's economy: Jamblamba–Malabu (85 km), Jada–Mbula–Ganye (44km), Mayolini–Mayo‑Belwa (40km), and Toungo–Karanti (90km), which will connect Adamawa and Taraba states. Tuwai attributed past project delays to insufficient funding from previous administrations and assured residents that federal roads in Adamawa are slated for rehabilitation and new construction.

He confirmed the completion of the Cham–Numan road rehabilitation and the bridge near the Numan–Savannah Sugar Refinery. While the first phase of the Yola–Fufore rehabilitation is finished, phase two has been awarded. The Numan–Jalingo road project is under review due to escalating construction material costs. Tuwai urged Adamawa residents to support the current administration, emphasizing the federal government's commitment to developing critical road infrastructure to enhance the state's economy.
