Tinubu Directs Wike to Allocate Land to Abdulsalami for Resource Centre in Abuja

President Bola Tinubu has officially backed the creation of the Abdulsalami Abubakar Africa Resource Centre in Abuja, a move that includes allocating a significant parcel of land and providing financial support for its construction. The announcement came on Saturday during the 84th birthday celebration of former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar.

Vice President Kashim Shettima conveyed President Tinubu's commitment, highlighting the proposed center as a fitting tribute to Abubakar's enduring legacy. Tinubu described Abubakar as a statesman whose career has been defined by his dedication to peace-building, democratic governance, national unity, and public service. The center aims to embody these ideals, which Abubakar has consistently championed throughout his decades of service to Nigeria and Africa.

To demonstrate the federal government's commitment, President Tinubu directed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to allocate a substantial piece of land along the Airport Road corridor for the development of the resource center. "In recognition of its importance, I hereby direct the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory to allocate a very huge piece of land within the Federal Capital Territory along the Airport Road for the development of the centre and the advancement of its mission," the president stated.

Beyond the land allocation, the federal government has also pledged to finance the construction of the facility. Vice President Shettima confirmed that President Tinubu has reviewed the architectural plans and approved government funding. Tinubu further lauded Abubakar as one of Nigeria's most consequential leaders, noting his pivotal role in navigating the country back to democratic rule after years of military governance and honoring his pledge to hand over power peacefully.
