Tinubu guarantees religious freedom, hails Ansar-Ud-Deen Society's contributions

President Bola Tinubu has pledged his administration's unwavering commitment to upholding freedom of religion in Nigeria, as guaranteed by the constitution. Speaking at the inauguration of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria's (ADSN) national headquarters in Lagos, Tinubu, represented by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, stated that the government will continue to ensure religious freedom while promoting tolerance and national unity.

Tinubu lauded the ADSN for its extensive contributions to education, moral development, healthcare, and community service over the past century. He highlighted the organization as a key Islamic body in Nigeria and stressed the importance of partnerships between government and faith-based groups in building a better society. It requires strong partnerships with faith-based organisations that share the vision of building an enlightened, disciplined, and compassionate society," he remarked.

The president also commended Alhaji Femi Okunnu for donating the secretariat and immortalizing his late mother, describing the project as a "lasting act of faith and generosity." He praised the Okunnu family for their integrity and service to Nigeria. The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadiri Hamzat, echoed these sentiments, urging the ADSN to uphold its founding ideals and promote education and moral values. Hamzat noted the organization's historical role in encouraging Western education among Muslim children, a legacy that continues to benefit present generations.
