Tinubu: Nigeria's Economy Stabilized, Entering Golden Era

President Bola Tinubu declared on Thursday that Nigeria's economy has stabilized, signaling the dawn of a "golden era" for the country. Speaking to a delegation of stakeholders from the Northeast zone, led by Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, Tinubu attributed the economic turnaround to the consistent implementation of reforms and the strong support from sub-national governments.

The economy is already stabilised. To many of the governors here present, I want to say thank you very much, and I want to charge you to do more. The golden era is here now. Nigerians are not asking for too much: simple stability, social welfare.

Tinubu urged the attending governors and other leaders to further consolidate the gains of these economic reforms. He emphasized the importance of Nigerians understanding the growth trajectory and actively participating in the process to share in its benefits. "The golden era is here now. I could see the leadership of the Northeast challenged because of terrorism and banditry. I could see our collaboration. We work together, we stick together, we think together, and we face the challenges the best way possible as a united country.

The President also highlighted the need for sustained unity in combating terrorism and banditry in the Northeast. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the region and praised the collaborative efforts in addressing them. In a pointed remark, Tinubu criticized previous administrations for privatizing public entities while neglecting to pay pensioners, assuring that his government is now clearing these outstanding debts. "I’m clearing the pensions now, clearing the mess they created," he said.
