Tinubu's funding empowers states, says Sokoto Governor

Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu declared that state governments across Nigeria are experiencing enhanced financial capacity under President Bola Tinubu's administration. This improved fiscal position, he stated, allows for the implementation of crucial development projects, sustained social interventions, and more effective responses to citizens' needs.

All the developmental projects we are executing in the state are as a result of the adequate funding we are receiving from the Federal Government.

Aliyu made these remarks in Bodinga Local Government Area while flagging off a government initiative to sell essential food commodities at subsidized prices. This program targets rural dwellers and junior civil servants to alleviate economic burdens. He emphasized that the Federal Government's increased funding has significantly strengthened his administration's capacity to execute projects and programs directly benefiting the people of Sokoto.

Similarly, all the palliatives we have been providing to our people, including this sale of food items at subsidised rates, as well as the payment of salaries on the 18th of every month, are also as a result of the adequate funding we receive from the Federal Government.

He further attributed the provision of palliatives, including the subsidized food sales and consistent monthly salary payments, to this federal support. Aliyu urged the people of Sokoto to disregard "campaigns of calumny" against President Tinubu and to support him for the 2027 presidential election, describing Tinubu's economic reforms as beneficial for Nigeria's sustainable economic path.

Addressing security challenges, particularly armed banditry, Governor Aliyu stated his administration is providing substantial logistical support to security agencies. He highlighted the recent provision of 62 armored vehicles, over 200 patrol vehicles, and 2,000 motorcycles to bolster their operational capacity. "Our administration has done its best in supporting the security agencies," he affirmed.
