Toddler hospitalized after dog attack during family visit in Bucharest

A young child, aged two years and four months, was hospitalized on Wednesday, June 24, after suffering a dog bite while visiting relatives in Bucharest. The incident prompted a police investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the attack.

The boy was in the yard of his relatives' home with his mother when the animal attacked. The mother immediately called emergency services. According to the Bucharest Police, the call was received around 12:00 PM. A police unit from Section 23 responded to the scene, where the mother reported that her son had sustained multiple injuries consistent with a dog bite.

Police confirmed the incident, and the child received initial medical attention at the scene before being transported to the hospital for further examination. Investigators are currently examining the circumstances of the bite, including whether the animal was supervised and if the owners had complied with legal obligations for dog ownership.

This incident follows similar reports in recent years. In a separate case, a man from Sebeș, Alba County, was spared criminal charges but ordered to pay moral damages after his dog bit a 3-year-old child on the face. That victim required two weeks of medical care.
