Tonga set for Pacific Schools Championship tomorrow

Tonga's U-18 boys' and girls' rugby league teams are set to compete in the Pacific Schools Championship, with both squads finalizing their preparations. The tournament kicks off tomorrow, offering a platform for young Tongan athletes to gain elite-level rugby experience.

Secretary General Tavake Fangupo stated that the championship's primary aim is to expose students to high-level competition, fostering their growth both on and off the field. Despite diverse backgrounds, the teams have dedicated recent months to developing unity and adapting to play as a cohesive unit.

Head coaches for both the boys' and girls' teams reported a positive build-up, noting the players' gradual adaptation to training demands and team structures. They emphasized that the experience has challenged players, pushing them beyond their comfort zones and imparting valuable life lessons alongside rugby development.

Team captains shared the players' excitement and gratitude for the chance to represent Tonga on a regional stage.
