Top Boko Haram, ISWAP Commanders Surrender Amid Intensified Military Operations

Nigerian troops have achieved a significant breakthrough in the counter-terrorism campaign in the North-East, with several high-ranking commanders from Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) surrendering. This development comes as a result of sustained and intensified military operations conducted by the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK).

According to military officials, the surrender of these senior terrorist leaders was prompted by credible, timely, and actionable intelligence. The ongoing operations have reportedly weakened the insurgents' operational capacity and dismantled their command structures, leading to a decline in morale within their ranks.

Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer for OPHK, confirmed that the surrendered commanders are currently undergoing processing, including profiling and debriefing, in accordance with established military procedures. He stated that these surrenders underscore the effectiveness of the military's sustained offensive in dismantling terrorist strongholds and disrupting their networks.

In addition to the commanders, the military disclosed that 76 terrorist foot soldiers, along with some of their family members, surrendered to troops within the past week. The Nigerian military asserts that its comprehensive counter-terrorism strategy, combining precision combat, intelligence-led engagements, and joint efforts, is yielding positive results. Operation Hadin Kai remains committed to defeating terrorism and restoring peace and security to the North-East, vowing to continue military pressure until remaining elements are neutralized or surrender.
