Top Jockey Silvestre de Sousa to Ride Favorite "Sikereti" in Oaks Español

World-class Brazilian jockey Silvestre de Sousa is set to ride "Sikereti" in the prestigious Beamonte-Oaks Español this Sunday. De Sousa, a four-time champion jockey in Great Britain, returns to Madrid for the race, which determines the best three-year-old filly over 2,400 meters. He previously won the 2025 edition of the Oaks Español with "Sweet Caroline."

"Sikereti" arrives at the race with a record of three second-place finishes in its previous outings. However, the filly has experienced significant bad luck in its 2026 races. In its reappearance, a mishap during the starting gates caused its jockey's saddle to shift, yet the jockey managed to stay on and nearly win. More recently, in the preparatory race for the Oaks, "Sikereti" lost several lengths at the start due to immaturity, showing signs of inexperience.

Given these circumstances, "Sikereti's" owners, the Mora-Figueroa family, have enlisted De Sousa for the major spring event for fillies. De Sousa will also participate in other races at the Hipódromo de La Zarzuela during his visit. "Sikereti," trained by Álvaro Soto in Madrid, will face nine rivals competing for the €30,000 prize for the winning owner.
