Torch Parades and 'Takbir Keliling' Brighten Eid al-Adha Eve Across Several Regions

The eve of Eid al-Adha was marked across numerous Indonesian regions with vibrant celebrations, including traditional "takbir keliling" processions and torch parades. These events brought communities together to welcome the Islamic festival of sacrifice.

In Desa Pagu Wates, Kediri, East Java, residents organized a "takbir keliling" featuring torchbearers and a parade of agricultural produce offerings. Similarly, in Sambiroto, Nganjuk, also in East Java, mosque youth led a torch procession around the village, a customary way to usher in the holiday.

Banyuwangi, East Java, saw residents of all ages participating in a torch and lantern parade, chanting praises to God along city streets. In Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, the provincial government organized a large "takbir" parade involving 55 participants from various government agencies, Islamic students, and community organizations.

Further festivities were observed in Denpasar, Bali, where hundreds of Muslims joined a "takbir keliling" procession. In Lhokseumawe, Aceh, children and residents of Desa Kandang also participated in a local torch parade to commemorate the night before Eid al-Adha.
