Toy Story 5 to Explore Digital Lives of Modern Children

The beloved "Toy Story" franchise is set to return with "Toy Story 5," premiering in Indonesian cinemas on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. This latest installment arrives seven years after the previous film, promising a fresh adventure for Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and their enduring group of friends.

The narrative centers on the toys' efforts to remain relevant in the life of an eight-year-old Bonnie, who is increasingly captivated by a sophisticated piece of technology called Lilypad. The film delves into themes of friendship, the inevitability of change, and the true essence of play in a world where digital distractions are becoming paramount.

Directed by Academy Award winner Andrew Stanton and co-directed by Kenna Harris, with Lindsey Collins producing, "Toy Story 5" continues to feature iconic characters like Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie. They will encounter new toys that introduce unexpected dynamics and challenges to their world. The film had its premiere at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles on June 9, 2026.

Among the new additions is Lilypad, a frog-shaped smart tablet voiced by Greta Lee. Purchased by Bonnie's parents, Lilypad's advanced capabilities make the traditional toys feel challenged. These characters are linked to Blaze (Mykal-Michelle Harris), a nine-year-old girl living on a farm. The story also features a new generation of Buzz Lightyear toys, reminiscent of the first film, playing a significant role in the plot.
