TRA Fengshan Station Building Completes Investment Attraction, to Feature Leisure, Dining

The main building of Taiwan Railways' (TRA) Fengshan Station in Kaohsiung has successfully completed its commercial investment attraction process, paving the way for the introduction of leisure and dining establishments. The "Sky Fengshan" development, designed with the architectural motif of Fengshan's ancient city gates, is poised to become a significant local landmark.

Set to officially commence operations next year, the project will feature Taiwan's first TRA bento experience store, scheduled to open its doors by the end of June. This unique culinary attraction is expected to draw significant foot traffic and boost local commerce. Additionally, the TRA is evaluating the station building's interior spaces for office use, with the Environmental Protection Bureau and the Labor Affairs Bureau reportedly in discussions to lease floors.

The development faced challenges, with four previous tender attempts failing before TRA decided to manage the process internally. Following suggestions from legislator Hsu Chih-chieh, the decision was made to establish the TRA bento experience hall within the A building. This initiative, along with the potential relocation of city government departments, is anticipated to invigorate the area.

Further development is underway for the B building, with ongoing negotiations for commercial leases. The planned integration with the MRT Green Line, and potentially the Yellow and Orange Lines, is expected to be finalized by the end of this year. This transit connectivity, combined with the bento store and government office presence, is seen as a major draw for investors, with a contract signing targeted for July and a full operational launch by next year, aiming to stimulate local economic growth.
