TRA Saccos Launches Visa Card

TRA Saccos members can now access their money through ATMs, point-of-sale terminals and more than 40,000 CRDB agents after the launch of a new Visa card.

The TRA Saccos Pesacard, introduced by CRDB Bank in partnership with the cooperative on September 5, 2026, links the two institutions’ systems. Once a loan receives approval, members can receive the funds directly through the TRA Saccos system, reducing the steps involved in transferring money and cutting waiting times.

The card allows withdrawals at ATMs and payments at Visa-accepting point-of-sale terminals in Tanzania and abroad. Members can also use their TRA Saccos accounts without holding an account at another commercial bank.

Agriculture Minister Daniel Chongolo praised TRA Saccos at the launch as it marked 20 years. “Twenty years is a major milestone that demonstrates TRA Saccos’ strength, trust and contribution to improving the financial welfare of its members,” he said.

CRDB Bank secretary Pascal Mihayo said the partnership showed how technology could simplify financial services. TRA Commissioner Yusuph Mwenda described Pesacard as part of the cooperative’s effort to improve its services and keep pace with technological development.
