Trabzonspor tell Saudis to pay €30m for Onuachu

Trabzonspor has informed Al Ahli that they must meet a €30 million valuation to sign Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu. The Super Eagles forward faces a critical period regarding his future at the Turkish club, with Al Ahli reportedly preparing for further discussions this week.

Onuachu, who only recently returned to Trabzonspor for a second spell after a loan from Southampton during the 2023/24 season, is said to be open to a move. His previous stint saw him score an impressive 26 goals across all competitions, including 22 in the league, making him a joint top scorer in the Turkish Super Lig. He was also instrumental in Trabzonspor's Turkish Cup triumph, scoring twice in the 2025 final.

Initially, Trabzonspor had rejected two offers for Onuachu and maintained a firm stance on keeping their star striker. However, their position is understood to have shifted as they are reportedly nearing a deal to sign former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez from Al Hilal. This potential acquisition would provide Trabzonspor with a replacement, possibly facilitating Onuachu's departure.

Several clubs have shown interest in Onuachu. Turkish rivals Fenerbahce had previously pursued him but have since shifted their focus to Romelu Lukaku. Al Hilal might also enter the race, especially if Karim Benzema departs the club. For now, Onuachu remains a Trabzonspor player, but a decision on his future is anticipated in the coming days as Al Ahli intensifies its efforts to secure his signature.
