In a dramatic display of quick thinking and bravery, a traffic police officer in Vietnam has been hailed a hero for saving an elderly woman from a potentially fatal encounter with a speeding train. The incident, which occurred at the Tran Ria railway crossing in Tuy An Bac commune, Tuy An district, serves as a stark reminder of the dangers present at railway crossings.

Officer Le Duc Thang, of the Tuy An Traffic Police Station, was on patrol when he noticed the 76-year-old woman attempting to cross the tracks. Despite the audible warning bells and the descending barrier, the woman proceeded, unaware or heedless of the approaching train. Officer Thang reacted swiftly, shouting to alert her and managing to pull her to safety just seconds before the train thundered past.
