Traffic to Be Halted on Lithuania's Main Highway for Viaduct Work

Traffic on Lithuania's primary highway, the A1 connecting Vilnius, Kaunas, and Klaipėda, will face temporary disruptions this Friday, July 26, due to ongoing construction work near the Gėluva viaduct.

Motorists traveling towards Kaunas should anticipate traffic stoppages of up to 10 minutes around 3 PM. These halts are necessary to facilitate the installation of beams for a new viaduct. This measure aims to ensure the safety and efficiency of the construction process while minimizing prolonged delays.

Further significant restrictions are scheduled for the night of July 24 to July 25. Between 10 PM and 8 AM, the highway will be entirely closed to traffic in the direction from Klaipėda to Kaunas. This complete closure is required to carry out essential work on the road infrastructure.

Last week, similar work was conducted on the highway in the Klaipėda direction. According to the company, those traffic restrictions were brief and did not result in major congestion. The company has assured the public that efforts are being made to manage the current disruptions effectively.
