Tragedy in Maldonado: Two men killed by falling tree

A tragic incident in Maldonado, Uruguay, resulted in the deaths of two men who were crushed by a falling tree in the Parque Burnett area on Friday. The event occurred near the intersection of Del Rodeo and De la Montura streets.

Emergency services received a 911 call around 3:00 PM, reporting the discovery of two bodies in a heavily wooded area. Upon arrival, police officers confirmed the presence of two adult males without vital signs, partially covered by a large tree. Forensic experts and police investigators were dispatched to the scene.

The Maldonado Intendency clarified that municipal work crews, who were performing pruning tasks in the vicinity, were not involved in the accident. Similarly, a contracted company responsible for tree removal in public spaces was also not part of the incident. The police and the Prosecutor's Office are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the event to determine the identities of the victims and the cause of the tree's fall.
