Trees in Bishkek's Dubovy Park are drying out, residents report

Residents of Bishkek are raising concerns over the deteriorating condition of trees in Dubovy Park, a prominent green space in the city. A local woman has reported that a significant number of trees, including cherished chestnut and pine varieties, are beginning to dry out.

According to her account, the issue stems from work that began approximately two months prior. Trees were felled, and new soil was introduced to the area. However, she observed that the subsequent stages of the park's renovation or maintenance have not been carried out, leaving parts of the park neglected.

"The trees are drying out, even though municipal services report watering them," the concerned resident stated, questioning the efficacy of the current measures. She specifically pointed to the plight of the remaining trees, noting that the chestnuts are suffering, and the pines are also showing signs of distress. "The area is quite large, have they really decided to let it dry out?" she wondered aloud.

Her concerns extend beyond the established trees. She also reported that young Canadian maple trees planted near the arch of the Kurmanjan Datka monument are also dying. This suggests a broader problem affecting the park's vegetation, potentially linked to the incomplete or inadequate maintenance work.

The resident's appeal highlights a growing worry among Bishkek citizens about the preservation of their urban green spaces. The situation in Dubovy Park underscores a potential disconnect between reported municipal efforts and the visible reality on the ground, prompting calls for more effective and comprehensive care of the city's trees.
