Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat, currently detained for 1 year and 8 months, has issued a statement asserting his innocence and unwavering conviction ahead of his trial's verdict. Speaking from Silivri Prison, Akpolat described the period as one of enduring "dozens of slanders" and "oppression" against his family, maintaining that he has not deviated from his path.

Akpolat detailed his defense over 584 days, combating what he termed "lies and hypocrisy" and "media operations" under difficult conditions. He proclaimed that as a public servant and politician dedicated to his country's future, he has accounted for every penny and has nothing to answer for. He expressed gratitude to his colleagues, the people of Beşiktaş who elected him with a record vote, and his family for their unwavering support.

"Regardless of the decision tomorrow, my conscience is clear, and my forehead is unblemished," Akpolat declared. He affirmed his innocence yesterday, today, and tomorrow, pledging to continue his fight for a democratic, just, and secure future for Turkey. Akpolat stated that the number of years the court may seek is irrelevant, as he is prepared to pay any price for his people and country, emphasizing that the ultimate judgment will be in the afterlife.
