Trinchieri's Italian endeavor: Saving 250 children's basketball future

Andrea Trinchieri, the former strategist for Kaunas "Žalgiris," has taken a significant initiative in Cremona, Italy, to safeguard the future of young basketball players. Following the relocation of the main "Vanoli" team and its place in Italy's top league to Rome, around 250 aspiring male and female athletes faced the prospect of losing their youth system. Trinchieri stepped in to prevent this by founding the "A.T. Academy," named after his initials.

The newly established academy will absorb the activities of "Vanoli Young," ensuring continuity for the young players. Trinchieri personally engaged with local businesses to gather the necessary financial backing to sustain these crucial youth programs. The academy aims to provide a structured path for technical, physical, and personal development for boys, girls, and younger aspiring players.

Trinchieri brings over two decades of experience coaching across various European countries to this project. The organizational aspects will be managed by former "Vanoli" team leader Marco Bergonzi and Luca Rodighiero. Massimo Farioli will lead the boys' program, while Giulia Bona, who coaches in Italy's second women's league, will head the girls' program. The boys will train at the PalaBosco arena, while a suitable base for the girls' teams is still being sought in Cremona.

Marco Bergonzi stated that all project details, including its mission, activities, personnel, and vision, will be revealed in the coming days. Trinchieri has a deep connection to Cremona, where he resides and began his head coaching career in 2004 with the then-"Triboldi" team. His coaching journey includes stints with prominent clubs like UNICS Kazan, Brose Bamberg, Partizan Belgrade, Bayern Munich, and "Žalgiris," and he currently coaches PAOK Thessaloniki.
