Tromsø crushed by Brighton in Europa Conference League playoff

Tromsø's hopes of reaching the Europa Conference League were decisively ended by a dominant Brighton side, which secured a 4-0 victory in the second leg of their playoff tie.

The Norwegian team, having played to a 0-0 draw in the first leg, was unable to contain Brighton's superior performance at the American Express Stadium. The match was effectively decided within the first 38 minutes, with Brighton scoring three goals to put the tie out of reach.

"Tromsø hit a wall, took a punch to the face, and were punished for mistakes, but were ultimately outplayed by Brighton," summarized VG commentator Vegard Aulstad. The match began poorly for Tromsø, with defender Vetle Skjærvik forced off with an injury in the eighth minute. Brighton's goals came from Charalampos Kostoulas, Maxime De Cuyper, and Mats Wieffer, with Oliver Boscagli adding a fourth late in the game. "This was a tough encounter with reality at the top level for Tromsø," Aulstad concluded.
