Troops arrest two suspected terrorist informants, cattle rustlers, in Yobe market

Nigerian troops have arrested two men suspected of aiding terrorists and engaging in cattle rustling in Yobe State. The arrests occurred during a joint operation with local hunters at the Buni Yadi Friday Market.

Military sources reported that the operation on July 24 led to a violent confrontation when one suspect attacked a hunter with a cutlass while resisting apprehension. The injured hunter received immediate medical attention, while the suspects were subdued and taken into custody.

Initial investigations indicate that Muhammadu Sani, 32, confessed to serving as a Boko Haram informant and logistics supplier for nearly seven years. He allegedly guided terrorists to the homes of local residents, enabling them to steal cattle. His confession is expected to aid ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist support networks in the North-East.

Security officials emphasized the importance of local intelligence and collaboration between the military and community security groups in identifying individuals who provide support to terrorist elements. The suspects are currently undergoing further investigation to determine the full extent of their involvement.
