Troops foil terrorists’ attack in Katsina

Nigerian troops operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully thwarted a terrorist movement in Katsina State, demonstrating vigilance and effective intelligence gathering. During an ambush operation near Dandume in the Dandume Local Government Area, troops intercepted terrorists traveling on motorcycles, forcing them to flee into the surrounding bushes.

The troops, part of the 17 Brigade, acted in conjunction with the police, responding to credible intelligence about the terrorists' movement towards Funtua. This action highlights the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and secure communities across the region.

Further security operations were reported in other states. In Zamfara State, troops from the 1 Brigade responded to a terrorist attack on motorists along the Anka-Gummi Road. Although no direct contact was made with the attackers, injured civilians were promptly evacuated to the General Hospital in Anka for medical treatment.

In Sokoto State, troops from the CSI Battalion VII and Forest Guards addressed reports of terrorist activities in Kalanjeni Dutse, Tangaza Local Government Area. A civilian sustained a gunshot wound and was taken to Tangaza General Hospital. Meanwhile, in Plateau State, troops from Sector 6, Operation SAFE HAVEN, rescued a civilian who had been stabbed by unidentified assailants at Zawan Junction in Jos South Local Government Area. The victim was evacuated for treatment.

Separately, the Army Headquarters monitoring team, led by Maj.-Gen. Kenneth Chigbu, visited the headquarters of Operation SAFE CONDUCT in Ede, Osun State. Chigbu briefed troops deployed for the August 15 governorship election, urging them to maintain professionalism, adhere to the Code of Conduct and Rules of Engagement, and promptly report any security concerns.
