Troops rescue 16 kidnapped victims, nab terror collaborators

Nigerian Army troops have conducted successful operations across Borno, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Plateau states, resulting in the rescue of 16 kidnapped individuals and the recovery of 281 rustled livestock. The operations, which took place within the last 24 hours, also led to the apprehension of suspected terrorist collaborators and logistics suppliers.

Troops also arrested two suspected terrorist collaborators in Geidam, Yobe State, who allegedly supplied hard drugs to terrorists.

In the North-East, troops intercepted 20 individuals identified as suspected family members of Boko Haram insurgents, including nine women, two men, and nine children, near Gezuwa in Borno State. These individuals claimed to have escaped from a terrorist camp following an attack by rival ISWAP fighters and were subsequently handed over to military authorities.

Further operations in Yobe State led to the arrest of two suspected terrorist collaborators accused of supplying hard drugs to terrorists. Recovered items included suspected cannabis, 11 mobile phones, and cash. In Monguno, two suspected logistics suppliers for ISWAP terrorists were apprehended, allegedly confessing to delivering food items to militants. They were found with mobile phones, an assault knife, an ISWAP gate pass, and cash.

The army also reported the rescue of a woman who had been kidnapped by terrorists in November 2025 in Askira/Uba Local Government Area, Borno State. She has since been reunited with her family after receiving medical attention. Additionally, troops in Sokoto State rescued 14 kidnapped victims and recovered 281 rustled livestock and two motorcycles after engaging terrorists. Separate operations in Sokoto and Zamfara forced terrorists to abandon two kidnapped victims, one of whom sustained gunshot wounds and required hospitalization.

Troops also rescued a woman kidnapped by terrorists since November 2025 in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno and reunited her with her family after medical attention.

In Plateau State, troops rescued injured farmers attacked by suspected herders, confiscated 27 cattle from fleeing attackers, and arrested 19 suspects during raids in Riyom following the killing of two soldiers in an ambush. A suspect linked to attacks in Southern Kaduna was also apprehended during operations in Plateau.
