Truck carrying logs overturns on Route 18, blocking traffic; separate incident involves body on Route 16

A truck carrying a load of logs overturned on Route 18 in Uruguay on Tuesday, causing significant traffic disruptions. The incident occurred at approximately kilometer 301.500 as the vehicle, which was pulling a semi-trailer, traveled from east to west. The truck veered off the road for reasons yet to be determined, resulting in the trailer and its contents spilling across the roadway.

According to Policía Caminera, the traffic police, the route is completely obstructed at the location of the accident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a direct result of the truck overturning. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the incident.

In a separate and disturbing event on Tuesday morning, a nurse discovered the body of an adult woman on Route 16 near Aguas Dulces, Rocha. The nurse had stopped her vehicle around 6:00 AM after spotting what appeared to be a person on the road. Upon closer inspection, she determined the individual had no vital signs. Tragically, shortly thereafter, another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction struck the body and fled the scene without stopping. The cause of the woman's death will be determined through further analysis.
