Truck Driver Dies After Crashing Into Bridge in Treinta y Tres

A fatal traffic accident occurred on Route 8 in the department of Treinta y Tres, Uruguay, resulting in the death of a 67-year-old truck driver. The incident happened around 3 p.m. on Thursday when the driver's vehicle collided with the structure of a bridge near kilometer 277. Police reported that the truck veered off the road and came to rest partially overturned on the shoulder. Emergency medical personnel attempted resuscitation efforts at the scene but were unable to save the driver's life. The local prosecutor's office has taken charge of the investigation, ordering forensic analysis, a medical examiner's review, and the collection of any available security camera footage. Investigators are also seeking witness accounts to reconstruct the circumstances of the crash. In separate news, eight individuals were arrested following an anti-drug operation in Santa Clara del Olimar and Cerro Chato, involving simultaneous raids and the seizure of firearms, vehicles, mobile phones, cash, and cocaine.
