Truck Overturns on Ham Nghi - Vung Ang Expressway; Driver Dies at Scene

A serious traffic accident occurred early this morning on the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway in Vietnam's Ha Tinh province, resulting in a fatality and severe injuries. The incident involved a truck that overturned, causing significant disruption and prompting an immediate investigation.

The accident happened around 5:45 AM on July 18. The truck, bearing license plate 50H - 932.xx and driven by 33-year-old Vo Hoai Nam from Dak Lak province, was traveling southbound. While on a stretch of the expressway in Ha Huy Tap ward, the vehicle reportedly lost control, struck a guardrail, and overturned down an embankment.

Tragically, driver Vo Hoai Nam was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the front seat, 25-year-old Tran Trong Thach, also from Dak Lak, suffered severe injuries and was rushed to a local hospital for emergency treatment. Traffic police from Unit 4 of the Department of Road Traffic Police, along with provincial authorities, were dispatched to manage the scene and commence their investigation.

Officials from the expressway management unit stated that weather conditions were clear and the road surface was normal at the time of the accident. Road signs were also reportedly in place. Preliminary assessments by investigators suggest that driver fatigue may have led to the loss of control. The exact cause of the crash remains under active investigation.
