True Leadership is Responsible Action for Others, Says Sri Lankan PM

True leadership is defined by responsible action for the well-being of others, rather than by titles or power, according to Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya. She made these remarks while attending the "President's and Prime Minister's Guide Awards Ceremony," organized by the Girl Guides Association of Sri Lanka, a leading volunteer organization dedicated to empowering girls and young women in the country.

The ceremony, held at the Araliya Tree House in Colombo, recognized the dedication, resilience, continuity, and service of young girls. A total of 350 awards were presented, including 338 President's Guide awards and 12 Prime Minister's Guide awards.

Prime Minister Amarasuriya highlighted the core strength of the Girl Guides movement: providing equal opportunities to every child, irrespective of their background or capabilities. She further elaborated that the characteristics of a true leader include acting responsibly, listening with empathy, and working for the benefit of others.

The event celebrated the achievements of young women who embody the values of the Girl Guides, showcasing their commitment to service and leadership within their communities.
