However, according to a source familiar with the NATO talks, Trump did not repeat these criticisms behind closed doors, instead emphasizing the U.S. desire to remain in NATO. French President Emmanuel Macron and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte also stated they had not heard complaints from Trump, suggesting a more unified front was presented privately.

Officially, the summit concluded with a message of solidarity. NATO allies, including Trump, reaffirmed their "ironclad commitment" to collective defense in a summit declaration. Yet, underlying tensions were evident, particularly concerning the conflict with Iran. Meanwhile, overnight clashes occurred between Iran and the U.S. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced a joint missile and drone attack on U.S. military sites in Bandar Salman, Bahrain's Fifth Naval District, and Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait. They also claimed to have shot down a U.S. MQ9 drone. These actions followed U.S. military strikes and the withdrawal of Iran's oil export licenses in response to attacks on three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. Central Command stated that over 60 small vessels belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard were targeted, intending to impose severe penalties on Iran for the attacks on ships violating the ceasefire.
