Trump gives Iran 'last chance' for a deal

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that negotiations with Iran are currently underway, describing the talks as a "last chance" for Tehran to secure a favorable agreement. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump stated that the discussions, which he said were initiated at Iran's request and supported by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, are progressing.

Trump expressed frustration with Iran's contradictory public statements regarding the negotiations. He outlined the immediate agenda, which focuses on the complete opening of the Strait of Hormuz, with Iran's nuclear capacity to be addressed subsequently. "This is their last chance to make a good deal," Trump declared.

Furthermore, Trump asserted U.S. control over the Strait of Hormuz, stating that Iran would not be able to collect fees from ships passing through. "We control the strait completely right now, if anyone is going to take it, we will charge a fee," he commented. The U.S. president previously suggested a potential large-scale airstrike on Iran over the weekend but later rescinded the plan, indicating a desire to offer a final opportunity before taking further action.
