Trump on Iran and the Strait of Hormuz Blockade: “We Taught Them a Very Tough Lesson”

Donald Trump used a White House garden speech to deliver new remarks about Iran, arguing that the maritime blockade imposed against the country had worked highly effectively.

Trump said the U.S. Navy’s blockade had significantly enabled tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. “The blockade was so strong and effective that no one thought it could work this well,” he said.

The president made the comments at an event where he discussed how the American steel industry was restructured after the September 11 attacks. He commemorated those killed in the attacks and said the United States was making every effort to prevent similar attacks from happening again. After the speech, Trump awarded medals to relatives of some September 11 victims.
