In addition to the anniversary proclamation, Trump announced he had pardoned six individuals, whom he claimed were prosecuted under the Biden administration. He described the pardons on Truth Social as a response to the "Weaponization and Stupidity that our Country had to endure during four long years of Sleepy Joe Biden." While details about the individuals and their alleged offenses were not immediately provided, a senior White House official indicated to CNN that the pardons related to convictions under the Clean Air Act. These clemencies are part of a "250 pardons for 250 years" initiative tied to the anniversary festivities. Trump also traveled to South Dakota to deliver remarks at Mount Rushmore.
