Trump Signals “Soon” Attack on Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain, Calls U.S.-Iran Conflict “Small Potatoes”

Donald Trump has signaled that the United States could soon strike Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain, a heavily fortified underground site near the Natanz uranium-enrichment facility. The site is believed to contain two tunnel complexes buried deep underground.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Friday, Trump said he preferred calling the current situation a “military conflict.” But compared with wars the United States has fought in the past, he said, the confrontation was “small potatoes” for America.

Trump cited the conflict’s duration and U.S. casualties in making the comparison. He said 18 Americans had died, while other wars had killed “tens of thousands of people.” He also said the U.S. military had carried out intermittent strikes against Iran, while stressing, “We are not fighting right now.”

The United States and Iran resumed attacks in the Middle East this week after roughly a month without exchanges of fire. Iran also attacked Kuwait, a U.S. ally, raising regional tensions again. Vice President JD Vance had similarly said the day before that he would not describe the confrontation as a war.

Trump said the United States currently controlled the Strait of Hormuz and had “stopped Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.” Asked whether the confrontation should be called a war or a military conflict, he replied, “I don’t think what you call it is important. What is important is that we have achieved tremendous success.”
