Tshisekedi inaugurates water plant in Kamina, serving 230,000 residents

President Félix Tshisekedi has officially inaugurated the Lovoy water plant in Kamina, located in the Haut-Lomami province. This significant infrastructure project is set to provide access to potable water for an estimated 230,000 inhabitants, addressing a scarcity that has persisted for over five decades.

The newly opened facility boasts a production capacity of 7,000 cubic meters of drinking water per day. Its construction was overseen by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works, coordinated by the Congolese Agency for Major Works (ACGT), and executed by Chinese companies CREC 7 and SISC. The project aims to permanently resolve the long-standing water shortage in Kamina.

The water plant comprises a capture station, a water treatment unit, and an extensive transport network. This network includes a 5-kilometer pipeline that connects the plant to a water tower, ensuring the regular distribution of clean water throughout the city. The presidency announced that a social connection program will be launched soon to facilitate access for the entire population.
